TABLE OF CONTENTS
Mistress Bobby and Terri Foster were both involved in the leatherwoman scene in San Francisco and the Bay Area during the late 1980s and early 1990s. Terri Foster was instrumental in organizing the inaugural International Ms. Leather (IMsL) competition in 1987 and served on the Board of Directors for IMsL, helping to plan and produce the event from 1989-1994. Originally from Chicago, IL, Bobby Foster lived in Palm Springs, CA and was a contestant in the first IMsL competition.
The collection consists of color and black and white photographs, clippings, and photocopies of clippings. Photographs are of individuals, groups, and events during IMsL in 1987-1988 including contestants and competition events. Clippings are from publications such as the Bay Area Reporter and consist of articles about leather events, competitions, letters to the editor written by Terri Foster, and individual contestants. Ticket stubs for the IMsL contest and passes to Leather Weekend in 1988 are also included in the collection.
Collection was located in unsorted vertical files on cardboard backed magnetic photo album pages. Items were removed from the magnetic album and placed in archival sleeves for preservation. Scrapbook contents were rehoused in a clamshell box binder and kept in original order.
