	<head>Biographical Note</head>
	<p>Jonathan Krall was involved with each of the four organization in the collection.  He was a co-founder and Chair of the Board of DCSMA, first Chair of the Board of BESS, Board Member and Secretary of PEP and Board Member of Black Rose.</p>
<p>
DCSMA [District of Columbia Sexual Minority Advocates] was founded in July, 1998 with a mission of advocacy, education and empowerment.  Programs included educational workshops, a media outreach packet and sponsorship of individuals to attend the national Leather Leadership Conference.  DCSMA worked with the National Coalition of Sexual Freedom in the early days of that organization.

BESS [Baltimore Educational and Social Society] was founded on April 18, 2001with a mission of educational and social programming.  BESS is a non profit organization in the state of Maryland.  The organization supported many Special Interest Groups [SIGs] including a TNG [The Next Generation] SIG and a Master/slave SIG.
</p><p>
PEP [People Exchanging Power] in Washington DC was founded in June 1987 with a mission of education and support for people who participate in consensual dominant / submissive relationships or sexual activities.  PEP in Washington DC was started by and originally affiliated with a national organization entitled PEP that had its founding chapter in Albuquerque, NM.  In 1989, PEP in Washington DC changed its name to Black Rose.

Black Rose was originally named PEP in Washington, DC and changed its name to Black Rose in 1989.  Black Rose is an advocacy, education and social group and a 501(c)(7) organization.  Black Rose organized educational workshops, BDSM parties and social events.  Beginning in 1997, Black Rose organized a large national fetish and BDSM weekend called BR.  The first event was entitled BR10.

<head>Detailed Description of the Collection</head>
<p>
The collection consists of two archival boxes related to Jonathan's participation in the four organizations.  Included are meeting minutes, organizational documents (By-Laws and Articles of Incorporation), policy and procedure manuals, outreach materials, educational handouts and organizational planning materials.

Also included are draft copies of "Growing leather roses : how to help build a leather group in your community".  This manuscript was drafted by Jonathan Krall, Jack McGeorge and Chris M.
