Dedicated and Safe, Inc. was founded in September of 1995 and incorporated in the State of Illinois in January of 2006. The date of disbandment is unclear, although meetings were held as late as 2002. Dedicated and Safe, Inc. was also referred to as Dedicated (ampersand) Safe and D (ampersand) S. The mission of the organization was "providing a forum and a supportive environment for people of diverse, alternative sexual interests; a place where people can come together to share practical information and ideas, feelings, health and safety tips, etc., with other like minded people and the general public." The organization held monthly meetings, monthly educations demonstrations or discussions, social events, networking opportunities with similar organizations, charitable fundraising or outreach functions, and published a newsletter entitled "Dedicated and Safe, Inc. Newsletter". The organization met at restaurants around Chicagoland and at local dungeon spaces. Dedicated and Safe was a member of the Chicago Council of Clubs during its existence. Catherine R was a member of the organization.

The collection includes agendas and minutes from organizational meetings, financial reports, correspondence from and to both the organization and individuals involved in the organization. The collection also includes minutes, agendas and financial information about the Chicago Council of Clubs, of which Dedicated and Safe was a member.

A folder labeled "save instructions" with information about safe BDSM practices from third parties, catalogs and other ephemeral information was moved to the vertical files collection. A folder labeled "magazines save" was moved to the periodicals collection.
