Biographical Note

The International Mr. Rubber (MIR) competition grew out of the Mr. Vulcan Rubber competition, awarding its first titleholder in 1998. Initially held in Boston, MA, the contest is now held annually in Chicago, IL. Every year MIR holds a weekend of events such as parties at bars around Chicago, social events, and a “rubber swap” where fetish gear can be bought, sold, and traded. The weekend events culminate with a contest and show which awards the title of Mr. International Rubber. Each year the titleholder travels to promote the rubber lifestyle and represent MIR at various events around the world.

Past titleholders include Christoph Lehner (1998), Thomas Smith (1999), Tom Kelley (2000), Chad McLaughlin (2001), Yannick Kerjose (2002), William "Rubberwilli" Schendel (2003), Chris Vincent (2004), Frank Bug (2005), Michael Schneider (2006), Maurizo Iacone (2007), BJ Turgeon (2008), Stephane Donaldson (2009), Fenn (2010), G-Man (2011), Sly Hands (2012), Rubber Jason (2013), Andy "CosmicRoo" Coatham (2014), and Max Samauth (2015).

A self-funded organization, the contest and event weekend are managed by MIR Contest, LLC, an independent corporation. Funds from the contest and event weekend are reinvested in the contest or donated to charitable organizations.
