Biographical Note

Leather University was initially owned by the Fort Lauderdale Leather Guild, Inc. The Fort Lauderdale Leather Guild was formed as a not-for-profit corporation organized to promote tourism and adult education. In 2000, Leather University, Inc. assumed ownership of the Leather University events. Leather University hosted three events in Fort Lauderdale, FL between 1996 and 2004. The three events were named Dungeon, Men’s Academy and SM High. The weekend-long events were educational and social in nature. Each offered classes, demonstrations and workshops on BDSM topics in addition to social gatherings and meals.

The founding officers of the Fort Lauderdale Leather Guild were Eric Lawrence (President) and Jim Kennedy (Vice President). Named officers of Leather University, Inc. include Lawrence Fox and “The Bear Man”.

An SM High event was scheduled for March of 2002, but was cancelled due to change in management at the host hotel.

Leather University, Inc. was dissolved following the Dungeon 901 event in October of 2004.
