Biographical Note

The Los Angeles Boys of Leather (LABoL) was created in 2001 by Stephen Blackwell, a.k.a. boy stephen and was an active organization until 2010 . It was a forum through which self-identified leatherboys may educate and learn about brotherhood and the leather community at large; provided fellowship, social events, community, and solidarity among the LA leather scene. LABoL defined the term "leatherboy" as broadly as possible, to be inclusive of anyone who identified as such, with no stipulations based on gender, sex, appearance, or sexual orientation.

Stephen Blackwell is a founding member of LABoL and was president of the organization from its inception in 2001 until 2003. He was Southern California Drummerboy from 2001-2002, a member of the Los Angeles Leather Coalition, Mr. Los Angeles Leather 2003, Gauntlet II Mr. Leather 2003, and 2nd Runner-up at the 2003 International Mr. Leather Competition . Processing Information

This collection was donated to the Leather Archives and Museum in a single installment. The box contained several loose items without any form of organization and one binder of records with fifteen double-sided laminated pages. The binder was labeled and organized in a semi-chronological fashion from LABoL, so the processor kept the documents in their original order. In most cases, a divider was placed between the documents. In some cases the divider was labeled (by the donor) to help describe the contents within a folder.
