Robert "Cirby" Kirk whose work often appeared in Drummer Magazine, was born July 22, 1943. He lived in San Francisco in the Castro District. Robert was the star bartender at the Midnight Sun on Castro.

Robert was simply called “Dad,” by just about anyone who was anyone in S.F. and was very much loved. His art tended to be cartoon-simple with little or no background drawing. It was the late 80s, and Spandex was very much in vogue in the leather/SM community of S.F. He loved Spandex, wore Spandex and drew figures who were often apparently wearing Spandex.

Before Robert died, J.C. Collins (female fetish photographer) had some bad and cheap prints of Cirby art made up. They didn’t really go anywhere, but a good number of them were sold just after his death. Cirby died of AIDS on December 21, 1991.
