Alex Warner, Alex Warner received her doctorate from the History Department at Rutgers University in May 2011. Her recently completed dissertation examines the intersections of the politics of feminism and sexual liberation through investigating the organization of lesbian sado-masochists in the 1970s and 80s. Alex was honored to curate the LA&M's traveling exhibit on Leather women's history in 2006 and, more recently, the first Women's Leather History Project museum exhibit, "A Room of Her Own" and is excited to come on board as the Project Historian for the Women's Leather History Project at the LA&M. She has presented her work at International Ms Leather, New York LeatherFest and Philadelphia Leather Pride Night, and has been a member of the New York boys of Leather since 2006, serving as Sargeant-At-Arms, Vice President and now President. Alex has also taught courses in the History and Women's and Gender Studies Departments at Rutgers, Seton Hall, and San Francisco State University as well as for the Writing Program and the Institute for Research on Women at Rutgers. When not teaching or working on Leather history, Alex enjoys yoga and camping with her wife, Amber. |
